Year-round, the United Relief Foundation considers all types of residential, multi-use, and commercial real estate in all sorts of conditions within the city limits of Chicago or its neighboring suburbs.

Donating real estate can be completed as quickly as two weeks with three simple steps.

Step 1. Let us know about the property you’d like to donate. Calling or submitting our online form provides the details we’ll need to start the donation process.

Step 2. We take a look at the property you’d like to donate. We'll perform a standard review of the property to determine if the property can be accepted.

Step 3. We take care of all the paperwork and normal closing expenses at NO cost to you. We'll send you a donation agreement to start the transfer process and then the closing documents to you for signing for its completion.  Upon transfer, we will take over all taxes, maintenance, and insurance responsibilities, and send you a tax-deductible receipt.

What is the United Relief Foundation?

The United Relief Foundation is about doing the good deeds that are Making A Difference by Being The Difference in the lives of the men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces.

As a 501(c)(3) humanitarian aid organization chartered as a not-for-profit by the State of Illinois on February 2, 2006. Donations to the United Relief Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law.

How are real estate donations reviewed?

Real estate professionals, who donate their time and expertise to the United Relief Foundation, review real estate donations to ensure that the Foundation's service to those who served our country can benefit from the donation.

The type, condition and location of the real estate will determine if best benefit is in using or selling the property.

How long does the donation process take?

Should all your ownership papers be in order and the title is clear of any issues, it is possible to complete the donation process in as little as two weeks.

How is fair market value for my property determined?

The fair market value of your property is determined by the appraisal of a qualified third-party appraiser.

A fair market value appraisal of your property will be necessary for your tax purposes. However, an appraisal is not necessary for the donation processes.

The United Relief Foundation is not allowed by law to recommend a third-party appraiser.

Are there any costs to me?

The United Relief Foundation, with the assistance of our donor legal and real estate professionals, takes care of all the paperwork and the typical closing expenses at NO cost to you.

You will receive a donation agreement to start the donation transfer process and then the closing documents for your signature to complete the donation.

Can I donate real estate that needs repairs?

Yes, we do consider and accept real estate even if it's in need of repairs.

The veterans we serve are male and female anywhere in the United States.

Veterans in Survival Situations

These are veterans who are homeless or at risk of being homeless.

Veterans in Stable Situations

These are veterans who can support themselves, but are experiencing a hardship, challenge or crisis.

Veterans in Supportive Situations

These are veterans who are receiving some type of support from a veterans service organization, but have needs beyond the help they are receiving.
